???? Thinking of Brooding 100 Day-Old Broilers? Here’s What You’ll Need for the First 2 Weeks ????
Starting right is the key to healthy, fast-growing birds. For every 100 chicks, make sure you’re prepared with the following:
✅ Feeders: 3–4 round chick feeders (or 1 long 1 m feeder per 50 chicks). This prevents crowding and ensures every chick gets access to feed.
✅ Drinkers: 4–5 chick drinkers (4L each) or 2 bell drinkers. Keep water clean and fresh at all times.
✅ Pine Shavings (Bedding): ±2 bales (about 2 kg per m²) to cover a 3 × 3 m brooding area. Bedding should be 5–7 cm deep to keep chicks warm and dry.
✅ Infrared Lamps: 2 infrared bulbs (150–250 W each). Place them at chick height and adjust temperature daily (target: 32–34 °C in week 1, reducing by 2 °C per week).
✅ Starter Feed: ±1 × 50 kg bag of high-quality broiler starter feed is enough for the first 2 weeks. By day 14, each chick will have eaten about 450–500 g.
???? Tip:
Place feeders and drinkers in a circle under the lamp for even heat and easy access.
Always have backup bulbs in case one fails.
Change wet shavings quickly to prevent disease.
???? Good brooding = stronger immunity, better growth, and fewer losses. Start prepared, finish profitable!
