For us, that spark was simple: a dream to feed communities, uplift farmers, and build a family of brands that change lives across Africa.
Where It All Began
Years ago, long before Melo Trading became a household name among farmers, we were just a small idea in a dusty yard, surrounded by clucking hens, warm incubators, and the belief that Africa’s agricultural future could be brighter.
We started with MeloChicks—a humble passion project supplying healthy chicks to local farmers. Each batch we sold wasn’t just livestock… it was hope. Hope for farmers to grow businesses, feed families, and stand proud on their own soil.
As our community grew, so did the challenges. Farmers struggled to find reliable fertile eggs, consistent day-old chicks, good feed, and trusted equipment. Instead of turning away, we leaned in. We asked ourselves:
“Why not build a complete ecosystem for every farmer who believes in growth?”
The Birth of an Agricultural Family
That question gave birth to what is now Melo Trading — a unified powerhouse made up of six specialised divisions, each created to solve a real problem faced by real farmers.
