Hatchery success tips.

Fam, can we be honest for a minute? ❤️
Operating a hatchery is NOT a “switch on and hope for the best” business. I see so many farmers losing chicks simply because the process wasn’t respected. The machine can’t do magic if we don’t give it the right conditions.

Before we blame the eggs, the breed, or the weather… let’s check if we are doing the basics right ????????????

⭐ 5 KEY THINGS EVERY HATCHERY MUST HAVE OR DO — NO EXCUSES

1️⃣ Calibrate Your Machines (Temp & Humidity)
If your incubator reads 37.5°C but is actually 38.3°C, expect disaster. Too hot? Chicks die early. Too cold? Slow development. Calibration is your first line of defence.

2️⃣ Use a Data Logger
You can’t manage what you’re not measuring. A data logger shows you every fluctuation during the day and night. Power dips, humidity drops, temperature spikes — it’s all recorded. That’s how you catch problems early.

3️⃣ Candle Properly at Day 7, 14 & 18
Candling isn’t optional. It helps you track development, remove clears, and identify fertility issues. Skipping candling is like driving with your eyes closed.

4️⃣ Do Break-Out Tests After Hatch
If chicks hatch poorly, break a few unhatched eggs and study the embryo. Was it infertile? Early death? Late death? Malposition? This ONE step tells you the real reason behind your hatch loss — not guesswork.

5️⃣ Keep Equipment Clean, Sanitised & Ventilated
Bacteria is the silent killer of hatcheries. Dirty trays, poor airflow, and dusty rooms destroy hatch rates. A clean hatchery is a productive hatchery.

???? If you’re serious about hatching, treat your hatchery like a science lab — not a storeroom. Your chicks will reward you for it.
